Stir it Up
What is your gift? The kind of gift that I am talking about is that God given talent, skill, or ability to perform the thing that you were created to do! Each and every one of us has a purpose - a reason that we were placed in this world, a reason far beyond ourselves. I have heard it said that our calling "is that place where the world's need and our greatest passions meet" (author unknown). And with that beautiful calling, we are gifted to perform the very work that God designed us to do.
When I was a teenager, I use to visit the house of the grandmother of one of my very good friends. My friend's grandmother loved to cook. And she cooked with a passion! I can still see her in the kitchen beating eggs – passionately beating and stirring those eggs to say the least! Without stirring (fervently and passionately) those eggs, the way she did, they could not have been used for the purpose in which she intended.
I am reminded of 2 Timothy 1:6 "Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands" (KJV). There is nothing more powerful then to see someone doing the very thing that he or she was created to do. It is powerful because when we use the gifts that we are given, it is actually God working in us and through us to bring glory to His wonderful name. And when God works, incredible things happen, incredible things that have eternal importance and eternal value. "For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable" (Romans 11:20).
So, I ask you again? What is your gift? Stir it up!
